This Kid ain't Playing: Street Chic

I don't know if it was that 5 minute dance battle or Kid N' Play's skills on the mic, but House Party is still one of my all time favorite movies. Sometimes I pop in the DVD and fast forward through all the other parts just to watch the dance battle.

This cult classic will remain in the hearts of 90s babies. The parachute pants, the spandex and most especially Kid, of Kid N' Play's, extra high top fade.

The hair style, which is achieved by growing your hair into an afro, and then fading the sides and shaped into a rectangle with electric clippers, virtually disappeared in the early 1990s. Those who claimed the look as a part of their style repertoire kept them fairly short; about 2-3inches. However Kid's, at its tallest, reached up to 13 inches!

90s babies are bringing the look back and paying homage to the era.

Check out this kid Simba, 19. I peeped his high top fade across the crowd at Pentagon City in Arlington, Virginia
God I love the 90s!
