One of my favorite girlies, Kerry Washington, made it know that her sweet sense of style is a piece of cake while rocking this Sariah gâteau skirt at the "Evening with Neil LaBute and Friends" event on Monday in New York City.
The inverted pleated skirt is called a "gâteau" (which is the French word for cake) due to its tiered layers that resemble a wedding cake.
The skirt is fresh from the Spring 2009 collection of Sariah. Sairah is the brain child of Sariah Carson who is based out of NYC. All the prints in the collection, including the mustard and cream printed skirt Kerry wore, are hand painted and uniquely one of a kind - individually numbered with limited edition tags. Even the draping and pattern making is done personally by Sariah herself.
More pieces from this Spring 2009 Collection can be found at Barney's Co-op in Chevy Chase located at 5471-C Wisconsin Avenue Chevy Chase, MD 20815.

What Do You Get an Urban Chic Girl for Her Birthday?
Today Urban Chic boutique in Georgetown is celebrating their 5th Birthday! Owners Chris and Lindsay Buscher founded the G-town location in 2004 and business has been booming! Since then they have opened two locations in Baltimore, one in Bethesda, and have one opening soon in Annapolis. All of that at just 5 years old!
5 years ago Urban Chic brought an edge to the conservative Georgetown locale by mixing some established brands with up-and-coming designers. Tonight they want to celebrate all of those who have made them such a huge success. There will be goodies and dome bubbly from 5pm-8pm. Come on out and with them a happy 5th Birthday!

Movin' On Up!
Northwest boutique Lettie Gooch has moved on up from the Shaw area to the historic U Street Corridor and re-opened today! The shop, which opened up in 2006, helped to revitalize the Shaw area and bring shoppers to 9th street. Now in their new locale, they will be able to establish a new customer base from the faithful U St. shoppers.
At their new location, you will find new spring arrivals, new designers, AND a new addition; the Boyfriend Corner which will have seating, reading , and clothes for the guys.
Check them out today on their grand opening at 1517 U Street NW, between 15th and 16th Streets .

Pass on Patent Purses????
So the other day I was so proud of this amazing purchase I made at Bloomingdales in White Flint. I got the black patent Marc Jacob Faridah hobo (above). The delectable treat was already marked down from $448 to $335 AND I had a store credit from this horrible little Coach wallet someone got me for Christmas. So let’s just say the final price was way too good to pass up! My recessionista accomplishment was easily deflated when a friend of mine said “I promised myself I will not buy a patent leather purse in 2009”
I was floored! I strongly believe a big black patent purse will never go out? Are patent purses out???

Check out Venus Williams and Kelly Rowland out to dinner last night in New York City. Both are sporting big black patent purses.
What do you think?

Shop Op: Im So Dope...
...like Louboutins with the red bottoms, you gotta have 'em, you're glad you got them... This is what rapper Jay-Z said of the coveted heels and how every woman feels when she has on a pair. The shoes that start at about $600 dollars are distinguishable by their red sole.
If your looking to splurge on a pair, head to the Christian Louboutin Trunk Show at Neiman Marcus in Tyson's Corner. From today u until March 8th, get your hands on some exclusive pairs from the Spring 2009 collection. You'll be glad you got them!
Here are some of my favorites that Neiman's carries from the collection like these magenta suede peep toes with a concealed platform and ankle-wrap strap with dangling fringe above ($1095) ...
